Operations and Governance
How do we organize ourselves?
At Belle-Maison, we are building a collective living space founded on trust, responsibility, and respect for each person. To ensure the place remains coherent, vibrant, and sustainable, our operations are based on several complementary principles.
The cooperative’s bylaws form the legal foundation of the project. They define its operations, the rights and duties of members, and guarantee its stability and longevity.
The purpose and vision provide direction. They express the meaning of the project and the momentum toward which we are moving, particularly over the coming years.
The ethical and relational framework reflects our values—respect, listening, responsibility, and freedom—and serves as a compass for caring for relationships, people, and the place.
Shared governance guides how we make decisions. Decisions are made together, transparently and by consent, in order to find balanced and sustainable solutions.
Roles and responsibilities clearly distribute the tasks necessary for the proper functioning of the place and encourage everyone’s involvement.
The regulations and living rules specify the practical aspects of daily life and make collective living simple, clear, and fair.
These elements form a solid and living framework, serving cooperation and the pleasure of living at Belle-Maison. Some of the documents have already been drafted, others are currently under development. The entire framework will continue to evolve once the place is fully inhabited. These documents are available for consultation upon request.
